The bare bones of the concept was this: Hefty Smurf gets snatched up by the predatory Howlibird, whisked away to its ominous nest as dinner.  By the end of the sequence, Hefty needs to have gained the trust and loyalty of the Howlibird.  The rest of the gory details were left up to me.
